Back Care Basics — CLASS SERIES (12 Weeks)

This all levels class series will offer an approach to dealing with chronic and acute back pain in a progressive and individualized way. You will learn tools to release tension, ease discomfort, and gradually build strength and alignment to support a healthy, functioning back. No prior yoga experience necessary.

Lisa has been teaching Iyengar Yoga for over 20 years, is a Level 3 CIYT, and has been navigating a herniated disc for over 35 years. Her yoga practice is what allows Lisa to keep playing and living life to the fullest.

The seat of our will and our sense of self is the Manipura Chakra; it's where our personality, identity and inner fire reside. We'll explore our relationship to this energy centre through the framework of the intersection of drive and contentment, two of the guiding principles of yoga. How do the asanas awaken and support a sense of self, self-esteem, self- awareness? How do we connect to the energy of drive within ourselves? And how do we balance that with the practice of contentment? Open to All Levels.

In this workshop, we will take a serene journey through the chakra energy system to help restore peace of mind, body, and spirit. 

Our journey will begin by exploring our chakra strengths and challenges through a quiz and journal prompts. These will be our personal roadmaps to create individualized intentions to guide our practice. Journals and pencils will be provided for the activities.

Everyone’s journey will be unique to their needs and self-discovery. Our travel through the chakras will leave you feeling peaceful, centred, and at ease through a relaxation trifecta of yin yoga, yoga nidra, and meditation.
